Did You Know: Burna Boy’s Grandfather Was Fela Kuti’s Manager?

It is quite interesting that Burna Boy fashioned his lifestyle after Fela Anikulapo Kuti, but never visited the shrine as a kid.

He started listening to Fela’s music at a young age — thanks to his grandfather, Benson Idonije (Fela’s band manager at the time) who had his collection at his Lagos home.

Idonije, 83, is known for being the first band manager to the late Afrobeat musician and is regarded  as one of Nigeria’s most revered music critics and pioneering group of broadcasters who started Radio Nigeria 2 (now Metro FM) in 1977.
