Did You Know: Lil Nas X’s Name ‘Montero’ Is Derived From His Mother’s Favourite Car?tero

While promoting his new children’s book ‘C Is for Country’ on “The Tonight Show” on January 8, Lil Nas X shared that his real name, Montero, was inspired by his mother’s favorite car — a Mitsubishi Montero.

According to the ‘Holiday’ rapper who describes it as “slightly embarrassing”, his mom wanted the car but never got one, so she named Nas after the car.

However, he decided not to use his birth name as his stage name. He went with his internet alias ‘Nas’ then added ‘Lil’, after which ‘X’ was added later on.
