H.E.R To Make Acting Debut In ‘The Color Purple’ Musical Movie
H.E.R is expanding her creative footprint by venturing into the movie industry. The Grammy and Oscar-winning singer is reportedly the latest cast to join “The Color Purple”.
Initially a book, ‘Purple’ was adapted by Steven Spielberg into an Academy award-winning movie in 1985; thereafter it hit Broadway as a Tony-winning musical.
The new incarnation of the classic story fuses both formats, in that Warner Bros is remaking the film as a musical movie.
According to Deadline, H.E.R. has been tapped to play Squeak. Her character (which was originally played by Rae Dawn Chong in the Spielberg film) goes from a juke joint waitress to an aspiring singer.
