Today, May 18 marks the 27th anniversary of Janet Jackson‘s fifth studio album, “Janet” released May 18, 1993.
With sales of 350,000 its first week, the now 6X Platinum project — which birthed the hit singles “If,‘ ‘Anytime, Any Plane,’ ‘That’s the Way Love Goes,’ and more — owned the record for highest first week sales among female artistes at the time of its release. Its sales reportedly hover near the 14 million mark worldwide.
As of time reported, the effort remains one of only seven albums to produce 6 or more Hot 100 top hits.
