History Today: Chris Brown Released His Fifth Studio Album, ‘Fortune’

July 3 marks the 8th anniversary of Chris Brown’s fifth studio album, ‘Fortune.’

The critically-acclaimed project best known for its top 10 singles ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’ and ‘Turn Up The Music,’ debuted at number #1 on the Billboard 200, selling 135,000 copies in its first week.

‘Fortune’ which was Breezy’s second Billboard 200 chart-topper and fourth LP to reach the Platinum status, received a nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 55th Grammy Awards.
