History Today: Miley Cyrus Released Her First #1 Single On Billboard Hot 100, “Wrecking Ball”

August 25 marks the 7th year anniversary of Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball,” the second single of her fourth studio album, “Bangerz”
The 2013 record which lyrically discusses a failing relationship, debuted at #50 on Billboard Hot 100 and later became Cyrus’ first #1 single in the US. It also topped charts in the UK, Canada and Spain and sold over 3 million copies.
Released under RCA Records, its music video was named ‘Video of the Year’ at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.
