History Today: Olu Maintain Released His Biggest Hit, “Yahoozee”

October 27 marks the 13th year anniversary Olu Maintain released his biggest hit, ‘Yahooze’.

Released in 2007, the controversial song served as the lead single to his debut album of the same title. ‘Yahooze’ which was accompanied with its own custom dance, earned Maintain a performance at the Royal Albert Hall, London, where he brought former US Secretary of State, Colin Powell on stage.

The Puffy Tee-produced cut — whose official remix features LKT — won the ‘Hottest Single of the Year’ at the 2008 Nigeria Entertainment Awards and ‘Song of the Year’ at The Headies same year.
