Klever Jay Talks New Label, Where He Has Been & Upcoming Album

HEP spoke with the Koni Koni Love Crooner ‘Sholanke Abiodun Joseph’ popularly known as Klever Jay in an Exclusive Interview. The superstar who is a native of Ogun State had his education at Danwairy Special Primary School Kano, went to Dairy Farm Senior Secondary School Lagos and had his tertiary education at The Moshood Abiola Polythecnic.

My names are Sholanke Abiodun Joseph aka Klever Jay. A native of Ogun State
Which school did you finish from?
Danwairy special primary school Kano,dairy farm senior secondary school Lagos and Moshood Abiola Polythecnic
Who is ‘KLEVER JAY’ ?
Lol…Klever Jay is an Artiste. Song writer and a Producer
What made you choose the stage name Klever Jay?
During my school years my friends nd teachers do called me klever boy
So when I decided to do music fully, I added my real name to the klever
Which became ‘Klever Jay’.
How did your music journey started?
All started from church. From Christ apostolic church. I was once a church choir, I also beat drums.
Strange though; most Artiste developed their skills from church. What’s your take on this?
All I know is your journey must start from somewhere before reaching your destination. It doesn’t matter where it started from but where you are going.
Nice, did you grow up in Ogun state?
No…Kano and Lagos
How was growing up in Kano State like?
Its cool. But entirely new life over there
You’re what we can describe as a hit maker, you have dropped some hit songs over the years like Koni Koni love, Igboro ti daru etc. Where have you been? What have you been up to?
I’ve been out of the country for a while and now I’m back to continue from where I stopped with my new record label BlackWallStreet. Back and better.
Tell me more about your new record label BlackWallStreet?
Its an American based music-owned label.
What are the top events you’ve performed over the last couple of years?
Calabar Carnival, Guinness shows and Star Trek to mention few.
How can you describe your style of music?
Afro hip hop
Which Artiste have you worked with?
Danny Young, Prince Banton, Eedris Abdulkareem, Ruggedman, Seriki, 9ice, Reminisce, Yq and Faze.
Which Artiste are you willing to work with but local and international?
Davido, Olamide and if God permit Chris Brown.
If I may ask, what do you like in Chris Brown? Is it his music? Or Chris himself?

What do you think of the present status of the Nigerian Music Industry?
The Nigerian Music Industry Is going bigger and better every year
Enough space for every Artiste to showcase their talent and its also going extremely international.
What have been your challenges in your music career?
I don’t really have so far. And if I had it, will be the same one every Artiste are facing as a celebrity.
What has been your greatest breakthrough?
Taking music out of this country. Like going to perform outside Naija. And poeple still showed love like am in my country

Should we expect an Album from Klever Jay before the end of the year?
Not this year, early next year.
We’re working on promotions for now.
Please, tell us about your new project you’re working on now?
Right now I’m working on a single titled OMO AIYE. We just dropped the video 2days ago. A love and danceable song, produced by RYTHM and video shot by PATRICK ELIS.
How do you get your inspiration to head up to studio and deliver your good music?
Things happening around me inspired me a lot to write songs.
Do you have any mentor/an Artiste you’ve always looked up to?
I don’t
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 five years?
Only God knows tomorrow, I only pray to achieve greater things in my music career and aslo be ontop of my game now and forever.
What advice do you have for upcoming Artistes?
Check yourself if you really have what it takes, go to school, be prayerful and stay positive.
What do you have for your fans out there?
I wanna say big big thank you to them for being there for me, from the begining till date. God bless them all.
