Lauryn Hill’s ‘Miseducation’ Is The First Female Hip Hop Album To Be Certified Diamond

While the album is already penciled in history books for many feats including owning the first female Hip Hop song to debut at #1 on Hot 100, ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ has now added yet another to it’s closet.

RIAA revealed mid February that the 25-year-old LP had crossed the threshold for Diamond status – an award that recognizes sales of 10 million in the United States.

‘Miseducation’ makes Hill the 13th female act to own at least 1 Diamond album over her career. Among women of color, Hill is only the third act following efforts from iconic Pop divas Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.
